An AI-Native Organization is Flatter-And More Human…

AI Native Organizations

Start with the question most leaders get backwards. What is middle management actually for? For decades, the answer was information. Managers relayed it up, pushed it down, and coordinated across. That was the job. AI now does much of that relay work. So the layers built to move information have less to move. This is […]

Re-Engineering Roles Starts with Strategy, Not Software

Pyramid apporach to role development

Most companies are making the AI decision backward. They buy the agents and the applications, push them onto existing roles, and hope the strategic outcomes follow. That is the inversion. It lets the tool write the strategy. And it is exactly why the returns keep not showing up. The right order runs the other way. […]

The Technology Lean Out-Getting It Right the First Time

tech leanouts happening well the first time

This week, Sam Altman publicly said he was “delighted to be wrong” about the AI jobs apocalypse he predicted. The entry-level wipeout he forecast has not materialized. For two years, his timeline anchored boardroom planning. Now, the most authoritative voice on AI labor displacement has openly walked it back. Two days earlier, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang […]

Transformation Intelligence: The Skill Most Leaders are Missing for AI Success

Transformation Intelligence is the New hard Skill

Most of the leadership conversation right now is about AI tools, AI strategy, and AI return on investment. Very little of it is about transformation intelligence — the organizational capability that determines whether any of those investments actually produce a return. That gap is where most AI transformations are failing. Leadership capability has never been […]

What Your Learning and Development Budget Was Actually Meant to Do

The Price of Learning and Development

Every time OpEx gets tight, it’s the same list. Travel. Discretionary spend. Learning and development. In fact, scaling companies do it. Organizations in transformation do it. PE-backed teams under margin pressure do it. And almost every time, learning and development lands near the top of the cut list. But here’s the problem: that’s not a […]

Your Clients are Using AI Before They Call You

services firms AI client expectations-executive preparing for client meeting

Something is changing in the first five minutes of every client conversation — and most services firms haven’t named it yet. Your clients are arriving prepared in a way they never have before. Not because they hired a consultant or read more. Because they opened ChatGPT the night before your meeting. And in professional services […]

The Experience Crisis No One’s Talking About (Yet)

Magnifying Glass on a brain

The word “apprenticeship” comes from Renaissance-era Latin — “someone learning.” Guilds formalized what humans had always known: mastery isn’t taught. It’s built through reps. Through doing the work badly enough times that you start to feel when it’s right.
That concept hasn’t changed in 600 years. But the reps just disappeared.
AI is absorbing the exact cognitive labor that builds expertise — the research, the drafting, the messy first models. And most organizations are celebrating the efficiency gains without asking the question that actually matters: if AI handles the reps, how do your people develop judgment?
My doctoral research on leadership resilience keeps returning to the same finding: resilience isn’t a personality trait. It’s a capacity built through accumulated experience with hard things. Take away the hard things and you don’t just lose productivity depth — you lose the mechanism that creates resilient leaders.
This is what I’m calling the experience crisis. And almost nobody is talking about it.

When Judgment Becomes the Product: AI’s Inflection Point for Services Businesses

Sorting through a mountain of paperwork

Between February 23 and March 1, 2026, markets didn’t just correct tech stocks — they repriced defensibility across services businesses. Intuit, Thomson Reuters, Duolingo, Raymond James, and CBRE all took double-digit hits as investors questioned whether firms built on structured expertise can survive AI compression. This isn’t a technology problem. It’s an operating model question — and services leaders who understand the difference between AI-integrated and AI-native will determine which firms get priced for disruption and which get priced for advantage.
